Mingo is a city in Jasper County, Iowa, United States. The population was 302 at the 2010 census.

Mingo was platted in 1884. It is named from Mingo, Ohio, a city name derived from the historic Iroquoian Mingo people.

The city was originally established as a coal mining community, along with many of its neighboring communities.

Mingo is located at 41°46′4″N 93°17′2″W / 41.76778°N 93.28389°W / 41.76778; -93.28389 (41.767764, -93.283772).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.61 square miles (1.58 km2), all of it land.

As of the census of 2010, there were 302 people, 120 households, and 89 families residing in the city. The population density was 495.1 inhabitants per square mile (191.2/km2). There were 134 housing units at an average density of 219.7 per square mile (84.8/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 97.7% White, 0.7% African American, and 1.7% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.0% of the population.

There were 120 households of which 36.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.0% were married couples living together, 15.0% had a female householder with no husband present, 4.2% had a male householder with no wife present, and 25.8% were non-families. 23.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 10% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.52 and the average family size was 2.85.
