Minetto, New York


Minetto is a town in Oswego County, New York, United States. The population was 1,659 at the 2010 census.

The Town of Minetto is located south of the City of Oswego, which it borders.

Minetto was once a company town of the now-closed Columbia Mills textile factory.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 6.1 square miles (15.7 km²), of which, 5.8 square miles (15.0 km²) of it is land and 0.3 square miles (0.7 km²) of it (4.30%) is water.

The town is situated along the Oswego River and Oswego Canal.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1,663 people, 635 households, and 499 families residing in the town. The population density was 287.1 people per square mile (110.9/km²). There were 660 housing units at an average density of 114.0 per square mile (44.0/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 97.78% White, 0.24% Black or African American, 0.12% Native American, 0.66% Asian, 0.48% from other races, and 0.72% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.20% of the population.
