"Menino do Pelô" (Portuguese for "The Boy from Pelô") is a song recorded in 1991 by Daniela Mercury for her first solo album.
Written by Saul Barbosa and Gerônimo, "Menino do Pelô" talks about the time when the region of Pelourinho on Salvador was passing through a intense socio-economic depression. It's basically a wish for peace to all the poor children who was living there.
The song is also featured with Olodum, released as the second single of Mercury's first album and made a huge success in Brazil. In 1994, after the success of the album O Canto da Cidade, the song was re-issued and continues her success.
