McArthur is a village in Vinton County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,701 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Vinton County.

McArthur was laid out and platted in 1815. It was named for Duncan McArthur, an army general in the War of 1812.

McArthur is located at 39°14′50″N 82°28′47″W / 39.24722°N 82.47972°W / 39.24722; -82.47972 (39.247191, -82.479612).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.34 square miles (3.47 km2), of which 1.33 square miles (3.44 km2) is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 km2) is water.
