Mathews is a census-designated place (CDP) on Bayou Lafourche in Lafourche Parish, Louisiana, United States. The population was 2,209 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Houma–Bayou Cane–Thibodaux Metropolitan Statistical Area.
On August 20, 2007, school paraprofessional Amy Hebert fatally stabbed her children, Camille Catherine Hebert, age 9; and Braxton John Hebert, age 7; and the family dog. She was sentenced to life in prison.

It is in the central part of the parish and is bordered by Lockport and Raceland.
As of the census of 2000, there were 2,003 people, 726 households, and 569 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 506.1 people per square mile (195.3/km²). There were 747 housing units at an average density of 188.8 per square mile (72.8/km²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 96.56% White, 1.50% African American, 0.85% Native American, 0.30% Asian, 0.10% from other races, and 0.70% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.55% of the population.
