Mark Harris Getty, KBE (born July 9, 1960) is a British-born Irish businessman and co-founder of Getty Images. A member of the Getty family, which originally made its money from oil, he is the son of American-British billionaire philanthropist Sir John Paul Getty, Jr.
Getty attended Taunton School then read Politics & Philosophy at Magdalen College, Oxford.
Getty began his career with spells at Kidder Peabody in New York and then joined Hambros Bank Limited in London. He co-founded Getty Investments LLC Group, which holds the majority share-stake of the photographic agency Getty Images, with Jonathan Klein in 1993. Getty is the Chairman of Getty Images. Under his leadership it has become a major supplier of both commercial and private photographs, most especially for publications in the UK, U.S. and internationally. Getty is a member of the board of Getty Investments LLP.
In 2003, Getty inherited his father's majority holding in the Wisden Group.
In 2004 Getty was re-appointed as a trustee of the National Gallery in London. He is a regular member of the Sunday Times Rich List. On the 2009 list, he was ranked 174=, after a net worth loss of £55 million GBP from the previous year, credited to loss of share worth.
