Mark Chao (Chinese: 趙又廷; Wade–Giles: Chao Yu-t'ing; born 25 September 1984) is a Taiwanese-Canadian actor and model. He is the son of actor and television host Allen Chao . Chao graduated from the University of Victoria, Canada; with a double degree in sociology and economics. He started his career in the entertainment industry in Taiwan after he graduated. He is currently signed to Prajna Works (普拉嘉國際意像).
In 2009, he starred as the main character Wu Yingxiong in the television series Black & White, which established his fame and won him "Best Actor" at the 44th Golden Bell Awards.
In 2010, he starred in his first movie, Monga. The film became the highest grossing locally produced movie at Taiwan's box office in 2010, and Chao won "Best New Actor" at the 5th Asian Film Awards.
In 2012, he participated in several successful movies. Love, which co-starred Zhao Wei and Shu Qi, became the highest grossing Chinese film in North America. First Time, which starred Chao together with Angelababy, topped the box office charts for two weeks consecutively. In Black & White Episode I: The Dawn of Assault, he reprised his role as Wu Ying Xiong. Chao also starred in Chen Kaige's social drama Caught in the Web, and was awarded "Outstanding Chinese Actor" at the 15th Huabiao Awards.
