Marie Curtis


Marie Curtis (1912–2006) was the Reeve of Long Branch from 1952 to her retirement in 1962.

As a member of the first Metropolitan Toronto Council in 1954, Curtis is most remembered for her deep involvement in the creation of a regional parkland system. Marie Curtis Park in both Toronto and Mississauga bears her name.

Long Branch was a municipality that became part of Etobicoke, and later part of Toronto.

She is an inductee into the Etobicoke Hall of Fame.
