Mareeg (also known as Mareeg, Mareg, Meregh and Märēg) is a locality in central Somalia. It sits at a latitude of 3.7666667° and a longitude of 47.3°.
Along with Hobyo and Bosaso, Mareeg, developed as a coastal outpost of various Sultanates established by one of the Somali society's leaders named by SHADOOR WARSAME ALI between the 15th and 19th centuries. The town was founded in the 16th century, during the period marked by the local ascendancy of the Ajuran Empire.
According to the catalogo of the Museo della Garesa, coins from an early historical epoch were also recovered in the town.
