Manki, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa


Manki Sharif is a town and Union Council of Nowshera District in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. It is located at 34°1'0N 72°20'0E with an altitude of 289 metres (951 feet). Manki is also the home of one of the most powerful families in Pakistan. pir family of manki sharif pir sahib amin-ul-hasanat who was the member of all pakistan muslim league was noted for his campaign in the referendum that saw the NWFP become part of pakistan rather then india he was known as "fateh-e-Referendum.Quaid-e-azam muhammad ali jinnah visit to manki sharif on November 24 1945 boosted the morale of pir sahib and his devoted followers .The Khattak family of Manki village includes Nasrullah Khan Khattak ex Chief Minister, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Khattak family is responsible for building most of the large dams and link canals of Pakistan, including Khanpur Dam, Simly Dam and Rawal Dam and lots of other large construction projects.
