Malik Mohammad Habib Khan (Urdu: ملک محمد حبیب خان) is a former Federal Interior Minister of Pakistan – Interim Government – and conducted General Elections 2013 with splendid success.
Having served in the Pakistan Army which includes his services in ISI as Capt./ Maj. In Balochistan during insurgency, his intelligence expertise later benefited the intelligence Bureau (IB) during cold war arena from 1983–88 as head of Intelligence in Karachi / Islamabad. Later he was inducted in Police Service of Pakistan (PSP) and had risen to the top position of IGP in Balochistan, Pakistan Railways and Azad Jammu & Kashmir. His performance as Federal Interior Minister in 2013 has been rated as outstanding by the International Community forum of United Kingdom and he received an International award in British House of Lords on 2 July 2013 for ensuring smooth and peaceful polls in the country against serious security challenges.
He was born in Kahuta, District Rawalpindi in the Awan tribe. His grandfather was in the British Army. His first cousin Flight Lieutenant Ghulam Murtaza Malik (Shaheed) was declared as the martyr of Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 and received Tamgha-i-Jurat. His ancestor migrated from Pind Dadan Khan in the 16th century. Malik Habib was also a bright student; he completed his Matriculation from Government High School Kahuta with distinction and his name is displayed on the honour board of the school.
He completed BSc (Physics & Mathematics) from University of the Punjab.
He was commissioned in the Pakistan Army in the 37th PMA (Pakistan Military Academy) Long Course.He served various command and staff posts in Pakistan Army as Captain / Major. This includes his ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence) Assignments in Balochistan, Pakistan.
