Maladers is a municipality in the Plessur Region in the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland.
Maladers is first mentioned in 1156 as de Maladru.
Maladers has an area, as of 2006[update], of 7.6 km2 (2.9 sq mi). Of this area, 27.3% is used for agricultural purposes, while 65.3% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 3.7% is settled (buildings or roads) and the remainder (3.7%) is non-productive (rivers, glaciers or mountains).
Before 2017, the municipality was located in the Schanfigg sub-district of the Plessur district at the entrance to the Schanfiggs valley. It consists of the haufendorf village (an irregular, unplanned and quite closely packed village, built around a central square) of Maladers and the hamlets of Sax and Brandacker.
Maladers has a population (as of 31 December 2015) of 506. As of 2008[update], 5.6% of the population was made up of foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years the population has decreased at a rate of -6.4%. Most of the population (as of 2000[update]) speaks German (95.5%), with Romansh being second most common ( 2.2%) and Italian being third ( 1.0%).
As of 2000[update], the gender distribution of the population was 49.1% male and 50.9% female. The age distribution, as of 2000[update], in Maladers is; 41 children or 8.1% of the population are between 0 and 9 years old and 67 teenagers or 13.2% are between 10 and 19. Of the adult population, 70 people or 13.8% of the population are between 20 and 29 years old. 78 people or 15.4% are between 30 and 39, 82 people or 16.2% are between 40 and 49, and 72 people or 14.2% are between 50 and 59.
