Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar was Minister of State for Foreign Affairs within Pakistan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 2004 to 2007. He comes from a huge political family based in the village of Mianwali Qureshian in South Punjab which has been home to some iconic political notables such as Makhdoom Hameeduddin, Makhdoom Altaf Ahmed, Makhdoom Shahabuddin, Makhdoom Ruknuddin among others.

Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtyar is from Rahim Yar Khan, a city in the Saraiki belt[1] of southern Punjab.

Prior to entering politics he qualified as a Barrister-at-Law from Lincoln's Inn, London, following which he was an associate at Orr, Dignam & Co., Pakistan's leading corporate law firm. Later on he founded the Tradesout Web Hosting Company.

He started his polictical career in 1997 by leaving his job at Orr Dignam and contesting for a seat in the Punjab Provincial Assembly. He ran on a PML-N ticket and was successful. Later, during the rule of Pervaiz Musharraf, he joined the pro-Musharraf PML-Q party and subsequently became Minister of State for Foreign Affairs. In the 2013 elections he contested Independently and was successful in the National Assembly Seat of NA - 194, and the Provincial Seat of PP - 289 . He has currently joined the Pakistan Muslim League - Noon along with his younger Sibling Makhdoom Hashim Jawn Bakhtyar who is a Member of the Provincial Government and Head of finance committee.
