Madison is a city in and the county seat of Madison County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 2,438 at the 2010 census.

Madison was founded in 1867. It was named from Madison County. Madison was designated county seat in 1875.

Madison is located at 41°49′39″N 97°27′25″W / 41.82750°N 97.45694°W / 41.82750; -97.45694 (41.827527, -97.456875), just west of the junction of U.S. Route 81 and Nebraska Highway 32.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.15 square miles (2.98 km2), all of it land.

Madison is at an elevation of 1580 ft (482 m) above sea level.

Madison is part of the Norfolk, Nebraska Micropolitan Statistical Area.
