Macksburg is a city in Madison County, Iowa, United States. The population was 113 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Des Moines–West Des Moines Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Macksburg is located at 41°12′51″N 94°11′8″W / 41.21417°N 94.18556°W (41.214250, -94.185618).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 1.99 square miles (5.15 km2), all of it land.
Macksburg was laid out and platted in 1873. It was named for Dr. Joseph Hughes Mack, one of the original owners of the town site.
As of the census of 2010, there were 113 people, 53 households, and 33 families residing in the city. The population density was 56.8 inhabitants per square mile (21.9/km2). There were 59 housing units at an average density of 29.6 per square mile (11.4/km2). The racial makeup of the city was 96.5% White, 1.8% Native American, and 1.8% from two or more races.
There were 53 households of which 28.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 47.2% were married couples living together, 9.4% had a female householder with no husband present, 5.7% had a male householder with no wife present, and 37.7% were non-families. 34.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.13 and the average family size was 2.76.
