MX vs. ATV Unleashed is a racing simulation console video game for the PlayStation 2, Xbox, Microsoft Windows, and mobile phones. It was developed by Rainbow Studios and published by THQ; it was released in 2005. It features same console support for 2 players and online support for 8 players. The PC version has a "Track Editor" feature. A PlayStation Portable version was later released in 2006 as MX vs. ATV: On the Edge.
MX vs. ATV Unleashed includes 9 motorcycles and 14 ATVs. The motorcycles range in size from 50cc pit bikes up to 500cc race-ready cycles. The ATVs are primarily 450cc and can be two or four-stroke.
MX vs. ATV also features vehicles that are not normally in an off-road racing game, including off-road buggies, monster trucks, trophy trucks, sand rails, and golf carts. Aircraft are also featured, bringing airplanes and helicopters to the title.
The game was met with positive to average reception. GameRankings and Metacritic gave it a score of 78.53% and 80 out of 100 for the Xbox version; 77.91% and 79 out of 100 for the PlayStation 2 version; and 71.42% and 71 out of 100 for the PC version.
PlayStation Illustrated gave the game a score of 66%, calling the game "boring".
