List of tallest buildings in the United Kingdom

This is a list of the tallest buildings in the United Kingdom. As of January 2017 there are 68 habitable buildings in the UK at least 100 metres (330 ft) tall, 55 of them in London, four in Manchester, two each in Birmingham and Leeds and one each in Brighton and Hove, Liverpool, Portsmouth, Sheffield and Swansea (the only structure outside England). As of January 2017, there are a further 46 habitable buildings at least 100 metres (330 ft) tall under construction in the UK – 41 in London, 4 in Greater Manchester and 1 in Birmingham.

The Shard (formerly known as Shard London Bridge), in Southwark, London, is currently the tallest completed building in both the UK and the European Union; it was topped out at a height of 309 metres (1,014 ft) in March 2012, inaugurated in July 2012 and opened to the public in February 2013.

The UK has not been noted historically for its abundance of skyscrapers, with the taller structures throughout the country tending to be cathedrals and church spires. Despite this, since the mid-20th century the number of high-rise apartment buildings and office blocks in most large British cities has grown significantly.

This list includes completed buildings in the UK that stand at least 100 metres (330 ft) tall. Architectural height is considered, so masts and other elements added after completion of building are not considered.
