List of municipalities of Armenia
The municipalities of Armenia are referred to as communities (համայնքներ hamaynkner, singular համայնք hamaynk ). The community in Armenia is the second-level division in the republic after the provinces. Each community is self-governing and consists of one or more settlements (bnakavayrer, singular bnakavayr). Settlements are classified as either towns (kaghakner, singular kaghak) or villages (gyugher, singular gyugh). As of the beginning of 2017, Armenia has 795 communities, of which 48 are urban and 747 are rural. The capital, Yerevan, also has the status of a community.
