Class 3
Class 3 U.S. Senators belong to the electoral cycle that has recently been contested in 2004, and 2010, and 2016. The next election will be in 2022.
As of December 2016[update], there is one former Senator who is living, one from Class 1. The most recent Senator to die was John Glenn (1974-1999) of Class 3, on December 8, 2016. The most recently serving Senator to die was George Voinovich (1999-2011) of Class 3, on June 12, 2016. The most recent Class 1 Senator to die was Howard Metzenbaum (1974, 1976-1995) on March 12, 2008.
