As of October 2016^[update], there are ten former members of the U.S. House of Representatives from the U.S. State of South Carolina who are currently living at this time. The most recent representative to die was Butler Derrick (1975-1995) on May 5, 2014. The most recently serving representative to die was Floyd Spence (1971-2001), who died in office on August 16, 2001.
