List of Texas Governors and Presidents

Texas has had chief executives with the titles of governors and presidents since 1691. These were under the flags of:

From 1691 through 1821, the Kingdom of Texas (El Reino de Téjas) was a part of the Kingdom of New Spain (El Reino de Nueva España).

Following the Mexican War of Independence, the territory of Texas was merged with Coahuila to form a new state, Coahuila y Tejas.

During the Texas Revolution, the Consultation declared independence from Mexico. An interim government was formed pending elections.
