The eighteenth season of the long running Pokémon animated series is known as Pocket Monsters: XY (ポケットモンスター エックスワイ Poketto Monsutā Ekkusu Wai?) in Japan and internationally as Pokémon: XY Kalos Quest (advertised as Pokémon the Series: XY Kalos Quest). Well into their journey through the Kalos Region, Ash Ketchum and his friends continue seeking out the Pokémon gyms for his ambition to enter the Kalos League. At the same time, Serena begins her goal of becoming a full-fledged Pokémon Performer.
The season premiered in Japan between November 6, 2014 and October 22, 2015 on TV Tokyo. The season aired its premiere in the United States between February 7, 2015 and December 19, 2015 on Cartoon Network.
The Japanese version features four pieces of theme music. The first block of six episodes used the song "Mega (Volt)" (メガV(ボルト) Megaboruto) performed by Yusuke for the opening theme. It continues with "DreamDream" (ドリドリ DoriDori) performed by Shoko Nakagawa for the next nineteen episodes as the ending theme. Starting with the seventh episode of the season, the opening theme changed to "Mad-Paced Getter" (ゲッタバンバン Getta Banban) performed by Tomohisa Sako. The ending theme changed to "Roaring All-Stars" (ガオガオ・オールスター Gaogao Ōrusutā?) performed by Little Glee Monster from the twentieth episode onwards. For the international English language broadcasts, the theme song is "Be a Hero", performed by Ben Dixon and The Sad Truth.
