List of LGBT films directed by women

This is a list of lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender-related cinema films that were directed by women. LGBT – and in particular, lesbian, movies – directed by women are an important and distinct subset of that genre. Academics have studied the issue of how women as directors contribute to the way lesbian stories have been told. LGBT media -- and to some extent the mainstream -- have pointed out the difference a "female gaze" brings to a film.
