Lisa Alvarado

Lisa Alvarado (born 1982) is an American artist and harmonium player. The free-hanging paintings of Alvarado operate as stage sets, artworks, and ritual objects simultaneously, and engage with abstraction outside the parameters of Western art history. Her works have often been seen in Natural Information Society performances, for which she plays harmonium. Alvarado has staged and exhibited her work internationally in music venues, public parks, chapels, galleries and museums.

Alvarado was born in San Antonio, Texas to a Tejano family. She studied at San Antonio College and The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. In 2010, Alvarado joined the music ensemble Natural Information Society.

Alvarado's recent solo exhibitions include, ‘Sound Talisman,’ Bridget Donahue, New York (2017); ‘Traditional Object,’ Soccer Club Club, Chicago (2013).
