Line 1 of Ningbo Rail Transit (Chinese: 宁波轨道交通1号线) is a rapid transit line in Ningbo. It stretches from Gaoqiao Town in the west towards Qiuga Town in the east of the city and reaches Beilun. The line started service on May 30, 2014.
Line 1 is the first metro line serving Ningbo. It stretches in west-east direction, starting from Gaoqiao Town in the west as a viaduct and turns into underground tunnel when it approaches Haishu District. After that the tunnel stretches under Zhongshan Road, a main road in Ningbo, crossing Fenghua River and enters Yinzhou District. Then it passes Ningbo East New Town and then go overground. Finally the metro line extends into Beilun District and ends there. The section between Gaoqiao and Ningbo East New Town has been constructed as the first phase which started service on May 30, 2014. The rest section from Ningbo East New Town to Beilun District opens on March 19, 2016. The line has 28 stations in total, of which 12 are elevated and the rest are underground. Till June 2014, 20 stations of Line 1 are operational.
