Liga 3 is the third-tier football competition in Indonesian football league system since 2015. Before 2017, this competition was named Liga Nusantara. Liga 3 in 2018 changed name to Liga 4, because 2018 Liga 2 plays with 24 teams, 2018 Liga 3 plays with 37 teams from relegated 2017 Liga 2, and 2018 Liga 4 being fourth-tier or lower-tier competition in Indonesia.
The competition was established after Liga Indonesia Second Division and Liga Indonesia Third Division merged in 2014. Starting 2015, the Liga Indonesia First Division will also be merged with Liga Nusantara making it the third-tier level in Indonesian football system.
Persatu Tuban is the first champion in the competitions history.
In January 2017, PSSI renamed the competition to Liga 3.
