La Doña (Lit: The Doña / English: Lady Altagracia), is an American telenovela written by José Vicente Spataro for Telemundo, based on the work of Venezuelan writer Rómulo Gallegos titled Doña Bárbara, which most recent version, Doña Bárbara, starred Edith González. It is a production of Argos Comunicación and Telemundo Studios distributed by Telemundo Internacional. The series tells the story of Altagracia (Aracely Arámbula) a beautiful, elegant, successful woman, recognized in society and owner of an emporium in the construction world. Just as a young girl, she suffered two very strong traumas that marked her and made her the unforgiving "Doña" she is now.
The series features a large ensemble cast, including Aracely Arámbula, David Chocarro, Danna Paola and Rebecca Jones as starring cast.
The first episode of the series was published through Telemundo.com on November 24, 2016. It debuted on November 29, 2016 with the episode "Chapter 1", which was watched by 1.85 million viewers. The end of the of the series, "La Doña es perseguida" was watched by 1.71 million viewers.
The first season the series will be available on Netflix since June 14, 2017.
La Doña is a story of revenge, seduction and betrayal based on the life of Altagracia, a woman abused and with a sad past. Victim of a rape as a teenager, Altagracia gave birth to a girl named Monica whom she could not raise as the living memory of her worst experience. Fate will unite them when they fall in love with the same man, Saul Aguirre, an advocate for women and their causes. Three worlds will unite in a clash of reason, resentment and love where the justice of the woman will prevail as the great moral and victory of this story.
