On July 2, 2012, it was reported that Westermann signed a three-year contract with Partizan Belgrade. He was one of the candidates for the prestigious award EuroLeague Rising Star, which eventually went to Kostas Papanikolaou. In his first season, he averaged 9.6 points, 2.6 rebounds and 4.1 assists in the EuroLeague. In the ABA League, Westermann helped his team to win the title, averaging 6.9 points, 2.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 28 games.
