Koloriang is a hilly district headquarters town of Kurung Kumey district in Arunachal Pradesh, India, bordering China. It has an altitude of 1,000 metres (3,300 ft) and is surrounded by high mountains all around and is located in the right bank of river Kurung, one of the major tributaries of Subansiri river. The climate is rainy and hot during summer and very cold in winter.Located at an altitude of 1,040 metres above sea level, this beautiful town is also an old administrative centre. At present, the destination sprawls over a land area of 5,39,672.50 square metres. It is about 257 km from state capital, Itanagar.

This town has derived its name from two words, Kolo meaning the name of the person who is believed to be the owner of the area and Riang meaning land. In addition, it also serves as the capital of the district of Kurung Kumey.

Known for its natural beauty, the town is one of the ideal locations for those interested in nature walks as well as trekking. On the way to Koloriang from Ziro, there are numerous picnic spots. Besides, tourists visiting the town can head towards nearby villages such as Sangram, Palin, Deed and Talo.

Flights, buses, Tata sumo etc are available transportation to the destination. The nearest airport serving the destination is Naharlagun Airport, which is located in naharlagun. Tourists travelling from international destinations can board flights to Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati, which has connecting flights to Lilabari Airport in Assam, located close to Koloriang. Apst( Arunachal pradesh state transport) service is available from Itanagar via Naharlagun in altervative days.

spring and winter is the best time to visit this beautiful town, which commences from the month of april and extends till the end of May and from December- mid feb The temperature during this season ranges between 20° Celsius and 30° Celsius. The Bengia, Chera , Nangram , Chello , Riya , Yumlam clans of Nyishi community inhabits the area. People are known for their honesty, straightforwardness and their attachment to their age old customs and traditions. Longte is the annual festival of the area where people enjoy with festivity and pray different gods and goddesses for protection and well being of humanity, livestock and general prosperity. It is celebrated in the month of April every year.
