Kingston was platted in 1816.

Kingston is located at 39°28′19″N 82°54′50″W / 39.47194°N 82.91389°W / 39.47194; -82.91389 (39.472029, -82.913974).

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 0.37 square miles (0.96 km2), all land.

As of the census of 2010, there were 1,032 people, 458 households, and 299 families residing in the village. The population density was 2,789.2 inhabitants per square mile (1,076.9/km2). There were 503 housing units at an average density of 1,359.5 per square mile (524.9/km2). The racial makeup of the village was 98.8% White, 0.6% African American, 0.2% from other races, and 0.4% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.5% of the population.

There were 458 households of which 29.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 46.1% were married couples living together, 12.4% had a female householder with no husband present, 6.8% had a male householder with no wife present, and 34.7% were non-families. 29.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 16.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older.
