Kienberg is a municipality in the district of Gösgen in the canton of Solothurn in Switzerland.

Kienberg is first mentioned in 1173 as Vlricus et Hartmannus de Chienberh. In 1276 it was mentioned as dorff ze Kiemberg.

Kienberg has an area, as of 2009, of 8.53 square kilometers (3.29 sq mi). Of this area, 4.25 km2 (1.64 sq mi) or 49.8% is used for agricultural purposes, while 3.9 km2 (1.5 sq mi) or 45.7% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.37 km2 (0.14 sq mi) or 4.3% is settled (buildings or roads) and 0.03 km2 (7.4 acres) or 0.4% is unproductive land.

Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 2.5% and transportation infrastructure made up 1.5%. Out of the forested land, 41.0% of the total land area is heavily forested and 4.7% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 14.2% is used for growing crops and 31.4% is pastures, while 4.2% is used for orchards or vine crops.

The municipality is located in the Gösgen district, on the border between the Jura Plateau and the Fricktal. It lies on the road over the Salhöhe pass.

The blazon of the municipal coat of arms is Per bend Sable and Or in the first a Bend sinister Argent.

Kienberg has a population (as of December 2015) of 521. As of 2008, 5.9% of the population are resident foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years (1999–2009 ) the population has changed at a rate of -8.3%.

Most of the population (as of 2000) speaks German (508 or 97.3%), with French being second most common (4 or 0.8%) and Italian being third (2 or 0.4%).
