Katie Lorna Thistleton (born 13 May 1989) is an English TV and radio presenter, journalist and author best known for her work on the CBBC channel.
Born in Manchester, Katie graduated the University of Salford with a degree in English and Creative Writing, before qualifying as an NCTJ certified journalist after studying at News Associates, Manchester.
During her time in further education, Katie volunteered at various radio stations including North Manchester FM, Tameside Radio and BBC Radio Manchester, wrote for student newspapers and worked in I.T and Communications for Pennine Care - an NHS Mental Health Trust.
Katie joined the CBBC presenting team in January 2013.
Katie also presents the CBBC book club. This series can be seen across the CBBC channel on Sundays and often involves Katie interviewing authors such as Jacqueline Wilson, David Baddiel, Jeff Kinney, Cressida Cowell, Michael Rosen and Holly Smale. She is a regular at book festivals including Hay Festival and Edinburgh Literary Festival and has judged a number of book prizes including The Blue Peter Book Awards and The Royal Society Young People's Book Prize. Katie often hosts events for authors including David Walliams and Jeff Kinney for publishing companies Penguin, Harper Collins and Hachette. Katie has voiced a Peter Rabbit story for the CBeebies Storytime App.
She has appeared on and co-presented a variety of CBBC shows including Blue Peter, All Over the Place, Jedward's Big Adventure, Sam and Mark's Big Friday Wind-up. She has hosted numerous episodes of CBBC's Saturday morning live offering Shout out Saturday and various BBC Learning Live Lessons streamed out to schools across the country and available on BBC iPlayer. She also hosted Junior Bake Off's live after show Junior Bake Off: The After Party in 2016'.
Katie is the official deputy presenter for BBC Radio 1's The Surgery.
On 23 December 2014 Katie came second on Celebrity Mastermind. She raised money for the charity FOP Friends
Katie is currently writing her debut children's book Dear Katie: Advice on the tough stuff from someone who gets it which is to be published by Orion Publishing and will hit shelves in September 2017. The book is aimed at 10-16 year olds, exploring the sometimes challenging issues everyone faces as part of growing up. The book will feature a series of questions put to her by kids and teens.
