Kaleidoscope is the upcoming thirteenth EP by British rock band Coldplay, and is set to be released worldwide on 14 July 2017. It serves as a companion piece to Coldplay's seventh studio album, A Head Full of Dreams (2015).
On 21 November 2016, Chris Martin announced the EP title via the band's official Twitter account. The name of the EP, Kaleidoscope, is the same as an interlude track on A Head Full of Dreams (2015). The EP was originally due to be released on 2 June, but it was later delayed to 30 June without previous announcement from the band. It was later delayed a second time to 14 July.
In September 2016, The Chainsmokers shared two short clips of an upcoming song featuring vocals from Chris Martin via Snapchat.
On 15 June 2017, the song "All I Can Think About Is You" was released, the accompanied lyric video was released on the official Coldplay YouTube, and was directed by I Saw John First.
On 7 July 2017, after the band's performance in Global Citizen Festival Germany, the song "Aliens" (stylised as "A L I E N S") was released as a promotional single. The animated lyric video was released on the same day, and was directed by Diane Martel and Ben Jones. All the profits earned from the track will be donated to Migrant Offshore Aid Station (MOAS), an international non-governmental organisation which rescues refugees.
On 22 February 2017, Spotify prematurely posted a banner ad at the top of the site’s home page featuring the graphic of "Something Just Like This" with a Listen Now button. The track listing of the album and "Hypnotised" were released on 2 March 2017. "Hypnotised" serves as the first promotional single released from the EP. "All I Can Think About Is You" was released on 15 June 2017 as the second promotional single released from the EP, followed by the Tokyo Remix of "Something Just Like This" on June 22. "Aliens" was released as the third promotional single later.
