Kainakary is a village in Kuttanad Taluk in Allappuzha District of Kerala state, India.

Kainakary was part of the erstwhile Chembakassery dynasty.

Kainakary is famous for its unspoiled scenic beauty. Five rivers originating from the Western Ghats, including the sacred River Pamba drain into the Vembanad lake in the tip of Kainakary. The lush green coconut trees and paddy fields surrounded by blue water will give a refreshing trip to every tourist. Kainakary is synonymous with Kettuvallam or houseboats. Once a communist bastion, its literacy rate is top compared to many counterparts. Kainakary is famous for its Snake boat race rowers.

Near about 15 years back the village lacks a kilometer of tarred road but the scenario has completely changed due to the Alappuzha Changanassery Highway. The major income is still from Agriculture and fishing despite tourism. Kainakary is also a major spot of movie/TV soap/music video shootings due to its beautiful landscape view. Saint Kuriakose Elias Chavara, one of the founding fathers and the first Superior General of C.M.I., was born here.

The path-breaking kayal reclamations (agricultural land reclaimed from Vembanad lake-bed) Venad Kayal and Madathil kayal which are located in Kainakary village opened up a new era in agriculture in Kerala. This pioneering reclamation was carried out by Pallithanam Mathai Luka of Kainady village in Kuttanadu. It paved way for many other large scale reclamations in the Vembanadu lake and Kuttanadu became the rice-bowl of Kerala.

According to State Census 2011, total population of Kainakary was 23,696. Total number of houses were 5689.

Though Kainakary is a village itself, there are many other small places in and around Kainakary.
