KSKQ (defunct)

KSKQ was a Los Angeles radio station that broadcasts at 1540 AM. The station was owned by Spanish Broadcasting System and was known as "Super KQ." Super KQ played various Spanish-language musical forms at part of its format, including salsa and merengue music similar to its sister station in New York City, WSKQ (now WSNR).

In 1993, Super KQ's format moved to 97.9 FM (now KLAX-FM). 1540 AM became Mexican regional KXMG, "Mega 1540." Later, this frequency became KMPC. The frequency now broadcast in Korean after several years with a sports radio format.

KSKQ signed off on July 31, 1993 and was replaced with Regional Mexican KLAX-FM "La X," much to the consternation of its fans. Today, "La Raza" has shifted to a Regional Mexican format and is now owned by Spanish Broadcasting System.

The SKQ call sign continues on sister station WSKQ-FM Mega 97.9 in New York City.
