Its transmitter is located off TV Towers Road in Santa Margarita, California. It airs a non-commercial eclectic music radio format. Listener donations fund the station.
101.3 first signed on the air in 1989. Its call sign was KEDZ. From 1990 to 2016, its call letters were KSTT-FM and it aired an adult contemporary music format. In July 2016, the station was donated by its owner, El Dorado Broadcasting, to Santa Monica College radio station KCRW. On November 7, 2016, KERW began simulcasting the "Eclectic24" format of KCRW's HD2 channel.
