John Talbot (died 1549)


Sir John Talbot (c. 1485 - 22 October 1542 or 10 September 1549) was an English Tudor knight and lord of the manor of Albrighton, Shropshire and Grafton, Worcestershire.

He was a son of Sir Gilbert Talbot, KG (1452–1517/18), and the only child of his father's second marriage to Etheldreda (called Audrey) Cotton, daughter of William Landwade Cotton of Landwade, Cambridgeshire.

Sir John Talbot lived at Pepperhill, Boningale also known as 'goodly lodge' overlooking Albrighton park.

Sir John Talbot was married twice. He and his wives Margaret (née Troutbeck) and Elizabeth (née Wrottesley) are buried in St John the Baptist Church, Bromsgrove, Worcestershire.

Sir John Talbot married firstly Margaret Troutbeck, daughter of Adam Troutbeck of Mobberley, Chester. They had three sons and five daughters, including:
