John J. Maurer


John J. Maurer (born July 11, 1922) is an American politician and airline pilot.

Born in Kenosha, Wisconsin, Maurer served in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. He went to Marquette University and was a commercial airline pilot for United Airlines. He served in the town of Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin as a town supervisor and chairman. He served in the Wisconsin State Senate from 1975 to 1985 as a Democrat. Maurer then served as secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Veteran Affairs from 1985 to 1992. John was also behind the war museum, located in the Madison Capitol Square. Maurer was honored with the Maurer Memorial Hall, located in Beloit, Wisconsin. John Maurer is now happily residing in his birth state, with a wife, and two children.
