Joseph "Joe" Maggard (born December 8, 1955) is an American actor and former deputy sheriff who has appeared in various different films and television shows, Maggard is best known for playing Ronald McDonald in the McDonald's commercials and voicing Ronald in Wacky Adventures of Ronald McDonald from 1995 to 2007.
Maggard originally began his career as a deputy sheriff for the Brunswick County North Carolina Sheriff's Department after returning from the army, serving for three years as a sheriff before getting into acting in 1989.
Maggard was hired to play Ronald McDonald in the McDonald's commercials in 1995, replacing Jack Doepke, previously serving as an interim when Doepke was unavailable. He would then portray Ronald for a total of 12 years, the longest actor to do so. As a result, he appeared in many commercials, including voicing the character and portraying him in The Wacky Adventures of Ronald McDonald, and in the short lived DVD series McKids Adventures. In 2007, he was replaced by Ronald's current actor Brad Lennon.
