The 9th Season of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa premiered on July 30, 2016 on Colors. The series was hosted by Manish Paul and judged by Jacqueline Fernandez, Karan Johar, Ganesh Hegde and Farah Khan. The series ran from 30 July 2016 to 21 January 2017.
This season's winner was Teriya Magar. She is not only the youngest winner of the show,but also the first wild-card contestant to have ever won the title.
The Finale was shooted before the voting line were open. However, they declare the winner on the set of Bigg Boss 10 after the voting lines got closed.
Jhalak Dikhlaa Jaa has no audience voting in this season. Eviction is based on two specific criteria: judges' scores and the live studio audience scores.In semi finale, it was announced that audience can vote for the winner. Voting lines were open only for five days. Thus now the elimination is done right in the end of the episode, unlike the previous seasons where elimination would be done in the beginning of next week's episode.
The show started with 12 couples. In the 8th October episode, 5 WildCard entries were introduced by Farah Khan (who too joined the show as a judge).
