Jewan is a village in Powayan tehsil in Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. The village is located on the bank of river Gomti and near by village Agouna, 7 km east from tehsil Pawayan and 35 km from Shahajahanpur.

According to the 2011 census, its population is about 4000.

The village was set up by Raja Shambhu Shah youngest of the three sons (Descendants of rao Gopal Singh) of Raja from Nahil estate who after division of property and power came to live near gomti river and founded this village. Earlier this was the camping site of Raja who used to come here for hunting as it was all jungle during that period. Raja Shambhu Shah died while fighting with Rohilla Pathans.


It is located at 28°03'59.3"N 80°09'26.8"E. Its elevation is about 194 metres above sea level. The village is situated on the bank of river Gomti.

Jewan Kothi is a multi acre kothi where the royal family of Jewan (Descendants of Raja Shambhu Shah) lives and hold their janta darbara as hails from Nahil royal family. Jewan kothi used to be the Garden house of Jewan Gadhi (fort of Jewan) but after some tragedies in the family Kunwar Baldev Singh with his family wshifted to this garden house which used to be called as Baagh ki kothi later known as Jewan kothi. Presently family of Kunwar Rameshwar Singh And Kunwar Surajpal Singh lives there.


He was married to the only daughter of Raja Bal bhadra Singh of chehlari who was killed in the 1857 mutiny war of independence.

He was friends with Kunwar jyoti prasad, Raja Indra Vikram Singh of Powayan,Raja Gajendra Shah of khutar,etc. He performed the main role in saving Raja Gajendra Shah who was taken Into remand for silhua kaand. He laid the foundation of a new jewan kothi an extension to the old kothi In the year 1940. He was married in zamindari bargawan from whom he had one son.He married again yo zamindari Raja Ka Majhola of disst. moradabad after his first wife committed suicide.From his second marriage he had a daughter. He died in the year 1973.
