James Edward McKnight (born June 17, 1972 in Apopka, Florida) is a former American football wide receiver in the National Football League. He played for the Seattle Seahawks (1994–1998), the Dallas Cowboys (2000), Miami Dolphins (2001–2003), and the New York Giants (2004). He played college football at Liberty University.
McKnight attended Apopka High School, where he lettered in football, basketball and track.
He accepted a scholarship to play for Liberty University under former NFL head coach Sam Rutigliano. He was forced to sit out his freshman season, however, due to the NCAA's Proposition 48 regulation.
He became a starter as a junior, registering 50 receptions for 711 yards and 5 touchdowns. In his last year he had 39 receptions for 812 yards and 8 touchdowns. He finished his college career with 144 receptions for 1,948 yards and 17 touchdowns.
McKnight was signed by the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent after the 1994 NFL Draft. He spent the first ten games of the season on the practice squad before being activated on November 19. In 1995, he registered 14 special teams tackles. The next year, he was second on the team with 25 special teams tackles.
