John David Meeboer (nicknamed JD) is a Canadian singer/songwriter and contestant of The Next Star season 4.

In 2010, prior to appearing on The Next Star, Meeboer performed around his hometown of Vineland, Ontario with his band, booking over 15 local appearances.

Following the filming of The Next Star, Meeboer's single, "Sparks Are Gonna Fly" was rated #21 at the MuchMusic #Trending rates of 2011.

His music video for his single, "Sparks Are Gonna Fly" has also appeared on Family Channel.

As of 2012, Meeboer continues to perform solo and with his band, as well as with Shania Fillmore in New Brunswick. After doing the show with [Shania] (JD) continues on with his musical career in his hometown, Vineland.

Earlier in 2012, Meeboer and his band had entered the Niagara Singing Contest and made the finals. Winner is yet to be revealed Meeboer auditioned for The Next Star season 3 but did not make it past the judges, due to his stage presence not being "strong enough" as Steve Cranwell stated. May 28, 2011, he returned to The Next Star auditions and advanced to the Top 16 round in Toronto.

After performing "Secrets", Meeboer made it as a Top 6 contestant, along with Charlie, Milly, Shania, Parker and April, though it wasn't publicly aired until August 9, 2011 on YTV.

Throughout the season, Meeboer performed a total of 12 songs. (One being his Top 16 audition, and two being music videos) The first song he performed was "Secrets". After meeting his music producer, Nicole Hughes, they both created her new song titled "Sparks are Gonna Fly". Along with the rest of the top six, Meeboer performed a preview of his song. He later performed a battle song with contestant Shania; himself with "About Us" and Shania with "Alone Again". Then for the group battle, he performed "I Love Rock and Roll"; with Shania and Milly, v.s. "Whip My Hair" performed by Charlie, Parker and April. Further on in the series, He performed "I heard it through the grape vine" for the Motown segment of the season. Meeboer also performed a Motown song with contestants Milly and Parker titled "".

Towards the end of the season, Meeboer also created a music video titled "Sparks are Gonna Fly", and created a group music video, "Turn It Up Up Up" with himself and the other top 6 members before leaving the show. The eventual winner, Charlie, was named during the finale on September 25, 2011. Meeboer's single, "Sparks are Gonna Fly", along with the rest of the Top 6 singles are now available on iTunes and on The Next Star season 4 album.
