Info Edge was founded by Sanjeev Bikhchandani in 1995 with a partner. Sanjeev was working with HMM (now GlaxoSmithKline) before he quit to start his own company. Info Edge is one of the earliest Internet companies in India. It also diversified into Online Matrimony Jeevansathi and Online Real Estate 99acres.com.
The company was incorporated on May 1, 1995 under the Companies Act, 1956 as Info Edge (India) Private Limited and became a public limited company on April 27, 2006. It was the first Indian dotcom to IPO on an Indian stock exchange.
