Hunua

Hunua is a small settlement in the rural outskirts of south Auckland, New Zealand. The Hunua Statistical area, which covers a much larger area than the settlement, had a population of 4242 people in the 2013 Census, an increase of 144 people from the previous census in 2006.

Hunua is 14 kilometres (8.7 mi) east of Papakura, 3.6 kilometres (2.2 mi) from Hunua Falls and lies at the foot of the Hunua Ranges, from where Auckland obtains most of its water supply. The literal translation of the Maori language word is 'mountainous and sterile land'.

Hunua School, established in 1876, caters for Year 1 to 8 students.
