Hiouchi is a census-designated place in Del Norte County, California. It is located on the Smith River 7.5 miles (12 km) east-northeast of Crescent City, with a population of 301. It lies at an elevation of 171 feet (52 m).
The name "Hiouchi" derives from an unspecified native American language in which it means "blue waters."
The 2010 United States Census reported that Hiouchi had a population of 301. The population density was 519.1 people per square mile (200.4/km²). The racial makeup of Hiouchi was 267 (88.7%) White, 0 (0.0%) African American, 11 (3.7%) Native American, 6 (2.0%) Asian, 2 (0.7%) Pacific Islander, 8 (2.7%) from other races, and 7 (2.3%) from two or more races.
