Hideyuki Kikuchi (菊地 秀行, Kikuchi Hideyuki?, born September 25, 1949) is a Japanese author known for his horror novels. His most famous works include the Vampire Hunter D series, Darkside Blues and Wicked City.

Kikuchi was born in Chōshi, Japan on September 25, 1949. He attended Aoyama Gakuin University and was trained as a writer by famed author Kazuo Koike. His first novel, Demon City Shinjuku, was published in 1982. While his first novels are typical novel prose, as he gained fame, he adapted a more terse writing style.

Kikuchi became close friends with writer and director Yoshiaki Kawajiri during his adaption of Wicked City and the two have since collaborated on Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust and the OVA of Demon City Shinjuku.

The series takes place in a world where Shinjuku has been turned into a city of demons and monsters, and follows a young man named Kyoya Izayoi, user of the mystical art of Nempo, who must discover how the disaster relates to his own family.

The story, which takes place in Demon City Shinjuku's universe, follows Aki Setsura, a young private investigator who teams up with a mysterious man named Mephisto in order to find missing people and defeat evil creatures. The series is divided in Man Searcher short stories, which cover Aki's routine cases, and the series proper, which covers longer story arcs. In the most known of them, Demon Princess, Aki and Mephisto must go up against a group of vampires led by a character known as Princess who plan on making Shinjuku a vampire metropolis.

This story follows Fuyuharu Setsura, Aki Setsura's cousin.
