Hemideina crassidens, commonly known as the Wellington tree weta, is a weta of the family Anostostomatidae. It is endemic to New Zealand, found from Ruapehu south to Westland.
The Wellington tree weta can be distinguished from the Auckland tree weta by its yellow and black stripes, reminiscent of uniform of the Wellington rugby team, the Hurricanes.
The conservation status of Hemideina crassidens is "not threatened".
Bear Grylls ate a male Wellington tree weta and claimed that it was the worst thing he'd ever tasted.
