Heinrich David Stölzel (7 September 1777 – 16 February 1844) was a German horn player who developed some of the first valves for brass instruments. He developed the first valve for a brass instrument such as the trumpet {1818} and many others, the Stölzel valve, in 1818, and went on to develop various other designs, some jointly with other inventor musicians. Such instruments include the trumpet with help from Friedrich Bluhmel.
Stölzel was born in Schneeberg, Saxony, and died in Berlin.
