Hard right is a political term used for political tendencies to the right of the mainstream right-wing and left of the far-right.
In the United States the term is often used to describe groups such as the Patriot movement and the Tea Party movement. Features include paleoconservatism, Christian theocracy and white nationalism. It is said to be on the rise in response to the Obama presidency.
In the U.K. the term is used to describe hardline elements within UKIP and elements within mainstream parties that favour a pro-business neoliberal agenda. Elsewhere in Europe a range of populist anti-immigration groups are referred to as Hard right such as the AfD in Germany.
